Meet Varonica R. Cooper
"A Judge who will respect the bench and you"
Varonica R. Cooper plans to continue her career-long commitment to the law and equity by serving the citizens of Memphis as the next Judge of the Memphis City Court, Division 2.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Attorney Cooper has made Memphis her home for almost 20 years. As the principal of Cooper Law Firm, PLLC, Attorney Cooper has proudly worked on behalf of the citizens of this county in the areas of general civil law, family law, immigration law, personal injury, and criminal law. Prior to moving to Memphis, Attorney Cooper was a successful entertainment attorney providing legal representation to artists, negotiating with major recording labels, and lending her legal and producing talents to Broadway productions. During her 25 years of practice, Attorney Cooper has sat as Special Judge in a number of Courtrooms.
Dedicated, Committed, and Compassionate
While maintaining a thriving practice in New York, Attorney Cooper served as a professor at the Borough of Manhattan Community College and was functioning in that capacity during the 9/11 World Trade Center attack. In the immediate aftermath of the attack, Attorney Cooper swiftly changed her focus from teaching her students, to helping them process and navigate the events that occurred just blocks away from them. She aided her students and helped them to regain some level of normalcy in the midst of mass devastation. In like fashion, two decades later, Attorney Cooper demonstrated the same resolve and commitment to keep the team of Memphians at her firm, gainfully employed during the uncertainty and economic turmoil of the recent pandemic.
Attorney Cooper makes her home in Memphis with her husband of 20 years, their teenaged son, and her mother who she relocated to the area from Philadelphia.
